History
Established in April of 2017 as a 501(c)3, the Friends of Boulder County Sheriff K9 Association (BCSK9) was established in effort to provide financial assistance to the retired K9s of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, to include Veterinary bills, food, and memorial costs, a burden which is placed on the K9's handler after retirement.
In addition to providing assistance to our retired K9 friends, Friends of BCSK9 strives to provide financial support to supplement the often underfunded K9 unit. Although the Sheriff's Office provides salaries & patrol vehicles for the handlers, as well as food and veterinary bills for the active K9s, the budget can be quickly diminished by unexpected veterinary bills, leaving little to no funds to purchase new equipment or replace the worn equipment these heroes use on a daily basis.
